Following are a number of valid and reliable preferred methods used by some well-known astrologers to predict events. All of these systems work very well. Which one you chose to use is related to your own experimentation and discretion as an astrological analyst.
The Hamburg School of Astrology teaches several different methods for predicting. Some students/instructors from this school have presented a few of these methods in past issues of "UF".

Exact distances between two or more planets constitute a planetary picture. When one, two, or three separate planets/factors of the horoscope are the exact distance from one, two, or three other factors in the horoscope, their solar arc will culminate at the same time in the life of the native. Although these planet-pairs form no connection by aspect in the natal horoscope, all three groupings will be considered a planetary picutre because they have the same distances. When the Solar Arc reaches 20° then Saturn will equal Mercury (by conjunction), Sun will equal the Jupiter (by conjunction) and Venus will equal Uranus (by a square).."To travel, to find success and good health, to enjoy love and affection." During the life of this native these three paris will interact at precisely the same time in the directed chart. Therefore, they will set up the same kind of situation in the life of th enative, each time a little bit different.
To locate the half-distances find the midpoint of each of these pairs. Then notice the difference between the midpoint and one of the planets in the pair. This is easy, as you can quickly calculate. When the Solar Arc is only 10° then Uranus will be midpoint Venus/Uranus, Sun wil be midpoint of Sun/Jupiter, and Saturn will be midpoint Mercury/Saturn. The indirect distances are related to the hard aspects taking place in square, semisquare and so-forth.
The solstice chart is calculated for the native's place of residence or for a city one is interested in. This chart is used to predict events for the coming year. This chart can be analyzed on a daily basis by Solar Arc directing it one degree for each day of the year and reading the natal chart aspects it forms. The Ingress analysis is a marvelous way to give a qucky reading by adding the natal Sun in the chart and checking out the planetary pictures that form as the year begins. It is very accurate as to main events and general conditions taking place in the natives life during the coming months.
The Ingress chart is most effective for predictng mundane events for cities and countries. This chart is considered a "world horoscope." For detailed analysis the Ingress time should be calculated for the location in question. To predict when events take place, direct the chart one day for each degree.
This ingress chart is favored as a tool for quick analysis. Place the natal Sun in this chart and read the formulas that equal the natal Sun to find what the up-coming year will bring. Naturally the total natal or directed chart can also be used. Check natal Venus in this chart to see how the love-life will be, and so-forth.

New York City "Hotel Queen" Leona Helmsley was born July 4, 1920 at 6:00 AM EST 74W09 - 41N51 (time comes from biographer Randall Pierson, author of The Queen of Mean p.25, and he makes a point of the fact that the date and time came from the birth certificate). In 1989, she had been convincted in court of 188 count states of tax fraud indictment. She had been sentenced to 4 years in prison, but is out on bond pending appeal.
On May 17th 1990, the judge dismissed 180 counts on the grounds of "double jeapordy." A judge stated that a handful of criminal charges remain intact, but the "potential evidence of her guilt appears very strong."
If Leona Helmsley were to check the planetary pictures to her natal Sun for 1990 she woud find Neptune (deception, losses, rejections)
in the axis of Pluto/Hades. The message would be a cautious one for her. Problems will not end this year because a slow sneaking situation that crept along unnoticed for a long time is now an unmanagable crisis of the most evil kind. Furthermore, since Leona is a woman and her natal Sun is involved, the physical health of her husband would be very delicate and need constant attention during 1990.
Everyone was saddened by the death on May 16 of entertainer Sammy Davis Jr. who was eulogized at his funeral as "The greatest entertainer who ever lived."
The death patterns falling with the natal Sun in the Ingress chart do not always indicate the death of the native, in fact these patterns more often indicate deaths of others in the native's life. But when death does occur as in this case, the Ingress with the natal/directed Sun will give a hint of what is to come. This pattern to Sammy Davis Jr. was found in Uranus/Neptune equal natal Sun... The transition from earth into the beyond. His birth date was December 8, 1925, no time of birth given.
Actress Liz Taylor has been in the hospital for several months with pneumonia and other health complications. Unfortunately for Miss Taylor the transneptunian Hades has been in conflict with her natal Sun for the past year or so. in the 1989 Ingress chart Hades is nearly exact to Taylor's natal Sun... always a warning that the health is extremely vulnerable to deteriorating conditions. The planets Venus/Neptune equal hades showing hormone and glandular weakening of the body. Taylor's birthdate is Febuary 27, 1932.
Malcom Forbes, wealthy publisher, sportsman and colorful personality who was a favorite for T.V. interviews, died suddenly of a heart attack on Febuary 24, 1990. Forbes was born on August 19, 1919 (time unknown. He was an intimate companion of Liz Taylor and rumours came and went from time to time that they were going to get married. Forbes' death was very unexpected as his routine seemed to be energetic and healthy. The 1990 Ingress shows Forbes natal Sun equal Saturn/Uranus... a pattern associated with strokes, with heart-blockages, and with sudden death.
Charles Bronson is a very popular movie star. Over the past 5 years publicity has surrounded his lovely actress wife Jill Ireland who, like Sammy Davis Jr. has fount a daily battle with cancer. The planets indicating the wife, Moon/Mars, are equal Bronson's natal Sun and this is shared by Saturn/Hades and Mercury/Mars.. the wife suffers a long illness which culminates in news of her death. Jill Ireland died on May 18, 1990. Her date of birth could not be found. Bronson was born on November 3, 1922.
Another excellent predictive tool incorporates the New Moon for each month of the year. This phenomenon describes the following 27 day cycles or until the next New Moon. By directing this chart one degree per day the astrologer reads what is happening in the life of the native as the New Moon factors move in aspect against the natal/directed chart.
New York asrologer Charles Emerson is emphatic when he speaks about the value of eclipse. He believes an eclipse to be so valid a preditive signature, that he has made the statement, "No event without an eclipse."
Emerson's statements is not a new view, but rather reistablishes one of the tried and true stellar phenomenon that the astrology can relay on in prognosticating the horoscope.
One of New Zealand astrology John Jenkin's methods for triggering events is found in the stations retrograde and stations direct made by the planets and transneptunians each year.
During John Jenkin's Ft. Lauderdale workshops he pointed out the value of studying the dynamics of a planet as it makes its stationary direct position. The transit planetary pictures taht fall at this degree in the natal/directed chart will indicate a dramatic finish to a retrograde cycle.
Asteroid astrologer Martha Lang-Westcott introduces a technique that most astrologers neglect. In Martha's lectures she demonstrates the value of the Lunar Return for reading a monthly forecast. She backs up this method with a number of starting example charts. This method is perfect for those of us who use many factors in the horoscope. The angles are very descriptive as to specific events. When there are clusters of planets and other factors aspecting the event/experience because highly detailed and very prophetic. This is especially true when asteroids are added.
